Saturday, June 19, 2021

On Saturday, India ended the Day 2 of the 2019–2021 ICC World Test Championship Final on a high note with 146 runs for the loss of three wickets at stumps. Indian skipper Virat Kohli was unbeaten on 44 off 124 balls while Ajinkya Rahane also provided good support to Kohli with being unbeaten on 29 off 79 deliveries. Only 64.4 overs were possible out of the 98 estimated overs in the second day of the test match as umpires called off the day early due to bad light.

The test match began in Southampton on the second day of the test match as the first day of the match was abandoned due to rain. New Zealand captain Kane Williamson won the toss and decided to field first. It marked the first ever Championship final in the 144 year history of test cricket and also marked India’s first ever test match on neutral venue.
